More and more adolescents are involved in civic engagement—joining marches, supporting key causes, and fund-raising.  Does such activism provide a psycho-social protective factor during a time of identity development?  Does it support adolescent development, and if so, how?

This workshop will begin with a theoretical perspective on civic engagement among adolescents.  Panelists will then describe models of engagement in local independent schools, the role of educators, and share successes and challenges with adolescents.
