The book shares personal experiences as well as extensive research and expertise from education, psychology, sociology, history, law, and African American studies to help orient parents and community members to the ways race and racism will affect a black child's life and, despite that, how to raise and nurture healthy and happy children. Please join us as we engage in a deeper understanding of racism, developing a child's positive racial identity, and racial disparities in healthcare and education.

Dr. Valerie Harrison has spent more than thirty years as an attorney, professor, and higher education administrator. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Villanova University School of Law and earned her Ph.D. in African American Studies from Temple University. She resides outside of her hometown of Philadelphia.

Dr. Kathryn Peach D'Angelo is a lifelong educator with more than twenty-five years of experience as a teacher and administrator. She is a graduate of St. Joseph's University and holds a doctorate in education from Temple University. She resides outside of Philadelphia with her husband and their son, Gabriel.

The Lunch and Learn does not offer CEU or ACT credits and is free

In order to register for the Lunch and Learn:

• Select the appropriate ticket option that contains your desired combination and click the "Register Now" button.
• On the next screen you will complete the Attendee Information fields, Address Information fields (if applicable) and CE & ACT48 Credits fields (if applicable) and then
  • If there is a fee to collect - click the "Proceed to Payment Options" button
    • On the next screen you will select your method of payment
      • "Pay by Check/Money Order"
        • Click "Proceed to Finalize Registration"
        • That's it! Your registration will process, and you'll be shown a confirmation screen where you can view/print your receipt. You will also receive an email confirmation containing your registration information. We recommend you save/print a receipt for your records.
        • If you choose to mail your payment before the workshop please send along a copy of your receipt with payment to SOS or you may bring a check/money order with you to the workshop. NO CASH PLEASE.
      • "Pay by Credit Card"
        • Click the "Pay Now" button to enter your credit card details.
        • In the pop-up window enter your billing information followed by your credit card information and click Pay Now.
