Suicide is among the top ten causes of death in the United States. More people kill themselves than others. No therapist is completely free of the responsibility to assess and respond to the risk of suicide. Evaluating and responding to a suicide risk is the most frequent mental health emergency. This workshop will review the risk-management issues that arise when clients pose an immediate threat of harm to themselves or to others. The discussion will focus on suicidal clients, with special attention to risk assessment and intervention.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

• List the factors that are helpful in evaluating and assessing the risk of suicide
• Describe the clinical, ethical, and legal issues involved with managing and treating clients who threaten to harm themselves
• Discuss the importance of training and consultation with colleagues around these issues

FEES:

This workshop is free for members of SOS and PSCP: The Psychology Network. There is a $15.00 admission fee for others. CE credits and Act 48 credits are $30.00 each. CANCELLATION POLICY:

You are holding a spot so reservations for this workshop are non-refundable. If you cancel at least 48 hours before the event, you will be issued a credit (minus a $10 transaction fee) to use for another SOS workshop within the year.
