According to the popular press, adolescents today live in a hookup culture filled with gender pressure and risky behavior.  This workshop will present a brief overview of recent research on adolescent sexual development including the hookup culture, the impact of social media, transgender identities, and the overall fluidity of sexual identity in adolescents.  This program includes a lead speaker and two panelists who will discuss constructive responses to these issues.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

• compare and contrast observations about adolescent sexual development in same sex and coed schools
• describe two sources of rules for teenage use of social media
• list three proactive approaches to present to parents and/or school personnel of middle and upper school students to encourage healthy adolescent sexual development

CE CREDITS:

This session is co-sponsored by the Philadelphia Society of Clinical Psychologists (PSCP) and Specialists of Schools. PSCP is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer Continuing Education (CE) for psychologists. PSCP maintains responsibility for the program and its content. This program provides 2 hours of CE credits for Licensed Psychologists, Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists.

FEES:

This workshop is free for members of SOS, PSCP, and staff at the host school. There is a $15.00 admission fee for others. CE credits and Act 48 credits are $20.00 each.
